I have worked with the Beevor Band Organisation since 1983 and been involved with their training programme and conducting the bands throughout that time.
I learnt to play the cornet when I was 11 and played with local bands as Principal .I was also a member of the County Wind Band before going off to University where I gained a BA.Hons degree in Creative Arts (majoring in music) from Nottingham University.
I have been a Peripatetic Brass teacher for 30 years working for Lincolnshire Music Service and as a private tutor both in and out of schools. Many of my pupils have exam and festival successes and continue their studies at University. Some are now teaching themselves.
During this time I have tutored, conducted and trained a variety of ensembles over a wide range of ages.
My skills have also extended to include Whole Class Instrumental and World music tuition. I also deliver Infant Music Programmes for Lincolnshire Music service and Soundlincs.
Some years ago I was awarded the Mayoral Medal for voluntary work with the band and more recently awarded the Diamond Pin Award for services to others in recognition of my voluntary work teaching young brass players within the community.
I was also invited and attended a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace for recognition of my work through the Queens Awards.
It gives me great pleasure to encourage people throughout their learning whatever their age or level of achievement. The important thing is the enjoyment gained through playing and creating music.
